Who doesn't love a beautiful parade of lights? Especially on Vancouver Island because that means we often get to see boats lit up too (the best). As we start to feel those holiday fuzzies (I know for many it might be too early, but studies show that early Christmas decorating is really good for your mental health). Here are 10 holiday light up events to check out in Victoria and on the Peninsula.

#1 Marina Light Up Kick-Off - Downtown Victoria
On Friday Nov 29 @ 5:00 pm check out the ship light up, enjoy some coco & festive tunes.

#2 19th Annual Oak Bay Light Up - Oak Bay
On Sunday, Nov 24 @ 2:00 pm join the businesses of Oak Bay Village to kick off the Christmas season at the 19th annual Oak Bay Light Up. This is a very family friendly event with all kinds of activities.

#3 Sidney Sparkles Christmas Parade - Sidney
On Dec 1 @ 5:00 pm trucks and floats of all kinds will dazzle you as well as the ship parade following immediately after. Try to get there early for a prime spot on the curb!

#4 Sea of Lights - Lighted Ship Parade - Royal Victoria Yacht Club (Cadboro Bay)
The parade will set sail on Friday December 6, 2019 at 6:45pm. In partnership with the Districts of Oak Bay and Saanich, the Victoria and Oak Bay Sea Rescue Societies and the Maritime Forces Pacific, it contributes greatly to civic pride and enjoyment of the holiday season and supports the Salvation Army Christmas Fund, and the Oak Bay Kiwanis.

#5 Uptown Tree Light Up & Parade - Saanich (Uptown)
For those who want to get some shopping in and check out the lights, the Uptown light up and parade is the event to check out. Don’t miss out on the Annual Lighting of our 54 ft. Christmas Tree on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at 6:10 PM. Arrive early to snag the best spots to our Christmas Parade. Take advantage of the ENTIRE Boulevard! Our Parade will loop the Boulevard, and don’t worry you’ll have enough time to make it back to Town Plaza for Santa to light the Tree at approx. 6:30 PM! Dress warmly and get yourself a warm treat from our amazing retailers.

#6 19th Annual Oak Bay Light Up - Oak Bay
On Sunday, Nov 24 @ 2:00 pm join the businesses of Oak Bay Village to kick off the Christmas season at the 19th annual Oak Bay Light Up. This is a very family friendly event with all kinds of activities.

#7 The Magic of Christmas Light Up - Butchart Gardens (Brentwood Bay)
Join us December 1 when we officially transform The Gardens for Christmas. At 5:00 PM in front of the Rose Carousel, the Light Up switch is flipped and thousands of Christmas lights come on to mark the start of the Magic of Christmas display.

#8 38TH Island Farms Santa's Light Parade - Downtown Victoria
Join us for a festive afternoon and evening of fun with the 38th Island Farms Santa’s Light Parade and join us before and after in “Christmas Square” (Centennial Square). The parade starts at 5:00 pm at Government and Belleville St.... 7:00 pm sharp.

#9 14th Annual Esquimalt Celebration of of Lights
On Sunday Dec 8 @ 5:00 pm the festivities start! Esquimalt’s Celebration of Lights is a magical event for the whole family. Lights, Music, Food, Santa and it is FREE to the whole community. PLUS the amazing Maureen Washington will be singing some beautiful jazz and blues.
