You may have heard of the Saaniches...West Saanich, Central Saanich, East Saanich, Saanich, North Saanich etc...what is the Saanich Peninsula? It's made up of Central Saanich (Saanichton and Brentwood Bay) North Saanich and Sidney! It's pouring rain on the Peninsula today, so here's a few things you can get up to in the area.

In no particular order...
#1 Get your climb on at Boulders Climbing Gym
The Boulders Climbing Gym is a non-profit in Central Saanich, making climbing accessible for everyone, regardless of ability or ability to pay. With over 13,000 square feet (1,208 square metres) of climbing space, The Boulders Climbing Gym is a community facility and a unique social enterprise, providing adaptive recreation and rehabilitation programs, youth recreational and competitive programs, as well as facilitating a climbing academy at Stelly’s Secondary School.

#2 Go for a nature walk in ȽÁU,WELṈEW_/John Dean Provincial Park
Located out in North Saanich, this park is so beautiful. When it's raining you're well covered by a magical canopy of trees. The park was recently renamed to include its traditional indigenous name, ȽÁU,WELṈEW
#3 Get your humidity fix at the Butterfly Gardens
Seriously it is HUMID in there. If you want to pretend you're in the tropics, visit the gardens in Brentwood Bay and take in all the amazing butterflies, flamingos and more!

#4 Have a tea/coffee and a honey treat at Urban Bee
Just off West Saanich Rd. in Saanichton, this is the cutest honey farm and shop. Great ambiance inside and there is a covered patio so you can take a hot drink outside. They also have a great shop.

#5 Check out the huge octopus at Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea!
Did you know octopus are cannibals? It's true, if there were two of them at the aquarium they'd eat eachother. Learn about octopus and more at the Shaw Centre! Located in the Sidney Pier Building, it's one of our favourite places.

#6 Get a bite to eat or have a glass of wine at the Seahorse Cafe
A little hidden, the Seahorse Cafe is just to your right at the ferry dock. Their made from scratch seafood chowder is delish and the cafe is right on the docks in the marina which makes for a pretty nice view.
